No matter how long a person has been on this road, there are days we still find ourselves on the struggle bus. I don’t know about you, but I dread those times when grief rears its ugly head once again. Recently, a friend told me how strong they thought I was. Inwardly, I heard a voice say, “You’re such an imposter.” Hmm… is that so? It didn’t take but a moment for me to say, “Get behind me, Satan!” Life is hard. A life lived with a grieving heart is even more challenging. But that doesn’t mean we won’t all have moments. We can be strong and still struggle! So, where do we find the strength to go on?

Recently, I heard a song that made me sit up and say, “Yes, Lord, that’s me!” As I shared with my friend, I’m not always strong, but I know where my help comes from. “My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of Heaven and Earth.” Psalm 121:1-2

Anne Wilson just released her latest song, Strong. If you’re struggling today, I hope you will take a moment to listen and do as she suggests:

I hit my knees with my hands held highSaying dear Lord Jesus, you knowI can’t do this on my ownI can’t do this on my ownLord knows I’ve tried, but I’m good at falling downThank God you’re good at picking me up off the groundThe world’s gonna try to break meBut I know the one who makes meStrong

We are not meant to do this life alone, my friends. We are not meant to carry the burdens and hurts by ourselves. But there is one who will never leave us nor forsake us.

I’m strong when I got nothingI’m strong even when I’m weak‘Cause the strong arms of my SaviorAre holding on to me

If today is one of those days, I hope you’ll see that this is where we find the strength to go on – we hit our knees and lift our hands high. Give it a try. When you get back up, you may just feel stronger than you’ve felt in a long time.
